Hi everyone,

This is my first post. Is there anyone out there who will be attending the online FNP program through GU with cohort start Fall 2017.

Welcome...we moved your thread to our Student NP forum for more feedback.

Thank you!

Hey! I'm attending the WHNP at Georgetown more than likely. I am still waiting to hear from Duke and trying to decide between the two. What are your thoughts on the programs? I've been looking for students starting at Georgetown this fall and haven't had much luck.

Hi Kace0606!

I have been looking into the FNP at GU program for a year before I applied. Duke was one of my options but too much traveling back and forth, amount of required clinicals is higher, and few more credits. Both schools have good rating. GU was my first grad school I applied and luckily got accepted! I am as well trying to find someone who will be attending GU, also I am trying to track down few alumni just to get their input.. nothing so far.

Where did you look at GU stats and stuff? I was accepted to Georgetown for this fall as well. I should have put that in the above thread. I think if I get accepted to Duke, I will switch programs but I already paid my $500 to GU and I don't really want to lose that either. Do you know how to message on here? I would love to connect through email or on FB.

Sure, my email [email protected]. I also looked into University of Cincinnati FNP. Sounded good, no traveling to Cincinnati required, and better price but few other cons: 50 credit hours and 672 clinicals. Which is again more than GU. I work full time and have a family so traveling to Duke kind of what sealed the deal between me and GU.

If you feel like going with Duke just go with it. It is better to loose $500 now than stay with GU and spend thousands later and not be happy with the education

I applied to the fall 2017 cohort at Georgetown and it has now been 4 weeks since my interview. I am very worried that this isn't a good sign. thoughts?

Hi jackierocks,

It took about 4 weeks for me to get my acceptance letter. But I was one of the last students who was able to submit a video essay. I am sure the delay is something to do with the way in which they had to switch from video essay to an interview.

Keep me posted!!:geek:

Good Luck!!!!

Do you mind me asking if you two got an estimate for the total cost of your program? I'm looking at the ACAGNP program but I'm seeing like $80k for the full thing. I just wanted a realistic idea as to what I may have to pay.

Georgetown looks to be my top pick but geez....$80k.....that's bit much.

Hi Burks21,

GU FNP program is $1,928 / credit which is approximately mid $80,000 for the entire program. I know it is a lot. Approx. calculation for student loan for $80,000 is about $750-800 a month. Which will be pretty affordable once u start practicing as NP. What r your thoughts??

I'd like to be loan free by 10 years out of school. If my wife were to quit working, which was the plan, we'd be back living the same way we are now for 10 more years and we'd both be in our mid 40's. Seems way too long to live with such debt, at such an age. We live below our means as it is ($40k house, and I drive a rust bucket $600 Cavalier), so that amount of debt just seems insane. We're basically a one income household, as my wife brings home enough to cover the house payment each month and that's it.

Around here the wage for acute care NP's range very widely. $90k-$130k. Knowing my luck, I'd be stuck at $90k. Wife has no idea of ever moving so I'm SOL.
