Frightened!

Hello, I'm a new grad and am scheduled to sit in for the board on July 15th...I am soooooo nervous and scared. I'd like to ask those of you who has taken it (NCLEX-RN) of what kind of questions did you get. What type of illnessess/diseases were asked? As far as my confidence level, I feel like I'm pretty much covered on delegation/safety and infection control/therapeutic communication, but I feel like I still have so much to cover especially in the medical surgical aspect and of course pharm. I would really appreciate it if you guys can give me an advice on what to do and how to focus. Right now I'm using Princeton, Drexel, and learning ext. I'm so frightened because I'm already hired and went to the hospital's new grad program but I will not be working on the floor (Telemetry Unit) until I get my license.

every test is different, but i think that a few people got alot of disaster and management questions on nclex. i got quite a few about delegating and in a disaster who do you give tx to first-priority questions.

I can honestly say I didn't get any diseases that I had never heard of.. Basically, study everything :chuckle Wish I could be more help.. but it's just all so random.

thanks cursenurse and nurseamanda for your reply. I guess all I have to do is study as much as I can. I've also heard different things about the NCLEX and how the questions were presented. I get so bugged up about worrying too much. I guess it's all a matter of luck. Knowing my luck, I'll probably get the ones that I'm trying to avoid (pharm,peds, and maternity)...Sigh...sigh...sigh. Oh, how much time did you guys study and how was your study technique? What was your primary study material? Thanks!

I got a like 5-7 of select all that apply & A TON of priority. As far as meds, I got: Theophylline, Bumax, Lasix, Ritonavir (the question was about how to take it...I had no idea). I think that's it. Honestly, the questions that I got were familiar as to the content that I had seen either in my book or on my practice CD, BUT that doesn't mean that I knew it, I'm just saying that I did remember seeing it before. I also got 2 regarding simulation of external disasters, Labs (K+, Na+), no math at all, Types 1 & 2 diabetes, myasthenia gravis, multiple sclerosis, Paget's disease, a few regarding teaching patients & staff, one regarding how the nurse would know that equipment was failing, one regarding delegation (for an LPN & for an ICU nurse who was floated to the psych unit--this was my very last question), one for Addisonian crisis, one for neurogenic bladder, one for the diet of a person with end-stage renal disease, & one for what to teach a person with end-stage renal disease. That's all I can remember right now. Good luck. Do questions & only review content that you are weak in. Again, good luck.
