Friday December 13th 2024

Ado this is going to be a pumpkin spice cake, I've made it once or twice before.  Though this time the frosting is a bit different

Stars I hope she does well and gets admitted this program, even 1 day a week would be helpful

Work was again quite good yesterday, and pretty slow.  Had time before lunch to get the cake started and time towards the end of the day to complete the frosting.  Rest of the day was pretty quiet, just exercised.  Stayed in as it was unusually cold

Today except for the potluck tonight it should be a pretty ordinary day.  My friend B is coming to the potluck for the first time.  Hope he can come more regularly although it is quite a drive for him

Will thankfully be warmer today, in the 20s, think it may get up to 40 or so by tomorrow

    Woke up at 8:30 AM and thought maybe I'd get up and start in on some of the 'upstairs' messiness, but closed my eyes and I was gone ?. Now it is 12:30 PM and I feel groggy beyond belief and the puffiness under my eyes makes me feel like closing them again. I was apparently sleeping on my right side because the puffing under my right eye is ... more than the left, and I must've had my face smushed into the pillow because there is a 'dent' under the right eye that makes it look like pitting edema!  UGH and ARGH! Maybe as I stay upright it will reabsorb; I have already put some cream on it that is specifically made to help reduce eye puffiness, but it is not an instant cure.  I hope this eye puffiness goes away. But I don't think I have anything to go out for, so I will be the only one to notice it. Maybe I had too much salty something yesterday? 

    Time to get up and get dressed so I can get Nannie up and get her dressed. No plans other than that, and that is ENOUGH! Maybe SHE will doze off again after she has her breakfast and meds, and then maybe I can sit up on the sofa and close my eyes again.

    No time to lollygag. Up and Away Junior Birdmen!

    Stars one day you're going to finish your "I got up early...." with a "and then I got so much done and didn't go back asleep" and I'll send out a wellness check to make sure you're okay.

     

    Momo, Nannie, and I each napped in our spots in the den this afternoon for a couple hours. My puffy eye has disappeared, thank goodness. Did some dishes, some laundry, and crossword/word-find puzzles. Quiet day. It will be time for Nannie to go to bed in an hour to hour and a half. Last night she fell asleep in the chair so I got to put her to bed at 9:30, which for ME was a nice treat! She could do it again tonight and it wouldn't bother me. But she doesn't look particularly sleepy at the present time.

    I decided what I want for Christmas, but it isn't something that can be purchased. ?

    Hello all!

    No Stars, good you had a quiet day (no Nannie drama).  I hope she will meekly go to bed for ya.  Yay, you got a nap in!

    Joe, pumpkin cake sounds good!  Especially good if it is a familiar recipe (no surprises).  Hope you all enjoy the potluck.  How is your dad doing?

    I couldn't sleep at all last night.  Got up at 1030, with probably 3-4 hours in.  I have managed to stay away all day (read: I didn't nap!).  After lunch I did a few errands, then baked more spice cookies as dh's stash was running low. ?  I will hopefully sleep well tonight!

    We received a Christmas package from youngest ds and dil.  So far, we have opted to open it on Christmas morning!  I sent them two Valari pillows, for arm and posture support while gaming (or knitting, crocheting, reading, etc).  Also sent a yellow caution sign (the ones shaped like an "A"), printed with "Cat Vomit" on it, LOL!  Will send a couple little things on in the next day or two, as well.  Nothing big. 

    Our electric bill last month was $45.  This month: $154!  The paperwork inside the billing envelope mentioned a rate change, but Holy Moly!  *sigh* I guess it's a sign of the times.  Eating out is much more expensive than it used to be.  LOTS of things are more expensive.  We are expecting house and car insurance rates to go up too, next year.  We'll see.  It's discouraging.

    Well, despite my griping, have a good evening, and a good day tomorrow!

    Hi. Went shopping, didn't buy anything. Took dd out to lunch. 

    Its raining. Wind is supposed to blow hard tonight.

    After I baked, I re-did and printed the set list and lyrics sheets for tomorrow's program, making changes and clarifications more legible.

    Then dh and I practiced.  They asked for four songs, we have five ready just in case.  Then I cleaned litter boxes and took my shower.  Am winding down.  Again, I hope to sleep well tonight!
