Freaking Out!!

Published

Hello everyone. I'm totally freaking out! I'm scheduled to take the boards the last week of March and the closer it gets to taking my test, the more nervous I become. I've been studying from Saunders Q&A disc, and on average I been scoring anywhere between 82-90% consistently. However, because I have taken the boards before and have failed I continue to ask myself "Do I know enough?" I feel prepared but I want to know if it's normal to feel this way. Should I expect to make a 95-100% while studying from my Saunders disc? Am I getting myself too worked up? I'm just scared. I keep thinking that I'm going to forget everything I have studied. I was confident last week but as I said before, the closer my test date comes, the more freaked out I become. I feel great when I do my practice tests from my Saunder's disc and score in the 80s. I just don't like getting questions wrong. I think that I'm being too hard on myself. How do I know if I'm really prepared? Does my scores from Saunders confirm my readiness? Please help!!!!!

Good Luck to you. You will do fine. I will be in your shoes next december.

Just keep reviewing, but don't overdo. I think its totally normal to feel nervous before taking the NCLEX, I know I was. Plus your confidence is a little shook from the first time. You will do fine. Keep us posted.:)

hi nivek21, first welcome to allnurses! glad you joined.. you'll meet different nurses/students/test takers here..

and wishing you positive result with your exam.will plan to take the exam this coming may,'05. same here, it seems i still need to review/study all the necessary materials available.. (i guess, that's our security blanket). score in the 80s sounds really great as your foundation in taking the exam. keep praying also.. keep us posted. :)

Scoring consistently 82-90% is fantastic! You sound like you are well prepared for NCLEX this time. Just continue to review as you have, and work on RELAXING! Take a deep breath and congratulate yourself, your hard work studying is clearly paying off.

Best of Luck on your NCLEX, please post your progress

Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words. I went to MS for the weekend to relax a little. It actually helped, I feel a lot better. Had to get back to studying today though. I will keep everyone posted on how it goes with the test. I take it this week. :)

You'll be fine! To be honest, I had the Lippincott's edition and I consistently scored....not very high! However, when I took the NCLEX I thought that the questions I had were easier than the practice. I had 75 questions and then the screen went BLANK! Which is what happens, but I was still somewhat surprised! Good luck!

You thought that the questions on the NCLEX were easier than your practice tests from Lippincott? If so, then wow. I think that's the first time I've heard that. I actually had a friend take the NCLEX a while back and she stopped at 78. She told me that there were only about 6 questions that she didn't know. I knew she passed the moment she had said this. Thanks for the encouragement.

Yep, it took me exactly one hour to the minute. A lot of my classmates had been practicing for months and had all of the questions, but didn't pass. They were pretty upset with the fact that I did and they didn't. Oh well! I take tests very well though, I don't freak out like some people do. You'll be fine, just take deep breaths and relax!

:)
