Hello all! I am in my first semester of my LPN program and have had two tests in both Foundations (Fundamentals) and Pharmacology 1. My results back from the first test: 100% on Pharmacology, but 81% in Foundations. Below 80% is a failing in my program. My entire class did better in Pharm, than Foundations (as well as the new BSN students). I was sure Pharm would be more difficult than Foundations until now.
I have worked in hospital and long term care for the last 8 years. I am familiar with the common sense aspects of foundations. I am aware that we are testing NCLEX style. But my question is does anyone have any tips for studying/testing in foundations? Thanks in advance.

Hello Shan 409 this is not related directly to your post but I don't know how to send a private message if at all possible. I seen on another post that you were in Metro Detroit like myself and your in a LPN program. I was wondering what school you were in I applied to DBI and Oakland University Lpn Riverview. If your attending Oakland im just curious if you know what they mean about this "construction" and hows the progress? Oakland would be the cheaper route for me almost 10,000 cheaper and id really be interested in going there however I do not want to not go to January semester at DBI and Oakland doesn't even have a start date. I am a CNA and Phlebotomy tech and I work in the hospital ive been to college actually have over 50+ credits i know i meet the requirements im just looking to hear back from Oakland ive already heard from DBI.

The objectives in the front of each chapter are a great starting point, also the end of chapter questions. Use your CD-ROM if your text book came with one. Practice how to answer the questions as much as the content itself.
Thanks taggart84, I have done better. I started using the learning outcomes and key concepts. I have an instructor that doesn't really teach, but reads from the book...so I talked to other LPNs and RNs I know about some of the concepts (NIC/NOC/Maslows, etc...) and that helped.

We have the same issues @shan09
CNAAJ, Yes ma'am I'm from the D. I attend Davenport (Warren). I received 2 really good scholarships for transferring from HFCC and working for DMC. I looked at Riverview's LPN (OU), but it wasn't a good fit for me.
