Howdy. I will be moving to the Fort Worth area in a few weeks to begin a new grad internship at a local hospital. I really wanna live in the downtown area, or close to TCU. Any input for apartments to see or ones to avoid? Thanks for your help

Apartments to consider.....
1) Virtually anything located on Bryant Irvin Road
2) Virtually anything located on Hulen Street
3) The majority of the places on Sycamore School Road are fairly nice
4) There are some well-kept, affordable apartments on Crowley Road
I hope this helps. I am quite sure that others on this forum will have differences in opinion on where to live. I live in Southwest Fort Worth and love it.

I live on Overton Ridge, the adjoining street between Hulen and Bryant Irvin. Both of these areas are nice, safe, and pretty commutable to just about everywhere including TCU. Try to avoid the Vickery area as some neighborhoods are not too nice.

The apartments off of Ridglea Country Club Dr. area really nice, too.
I've also heard good things about the (relatively) new apts in downtown. I think they are called Firestone? Something like that. Good luck!
Additionally, you might want to avoid Woodhaven (east Fort Worth). It's a beautiful riverfront area with rich people and a golf course, but the neighborhood is also filled with low-rental apartments and many unemployed people.
Also avoid Seminary Drive, Ripy Street, Northside Avenue, 28th Street, Lancaster Avenue, East Rosedale Street, East Berry Street, and so forth.

"my" neighborhood is around hulen and I-30. Some very cute, for the most part well maintained, older homes not far from downtown and the two big hospitals. plus...it's right by Central Market which is my FAVORITE. There's also a sweet DSW Shoe Warehouse if you go south on Hulen from 30.
I WILL live there when I graduate!!!!!

I've lived and worked in Ft. Worth all my 38 years. My two cents: Downtown is expensive, TCU has many affordable rentals but if cost is really an issue look at South Hulen close to Hulen Mall. You can get to TCU quickly - less than 15 min in the am - heavy traffic. There are older apartments that are still safe. Please stay far away from the [evil]East Side, North Side[/evil], & West Side (for the most part). I lived at River Bend behind Hulen Mall and it was just fine. Good Luck

I liked River Bend too. Also liked Marina Club. Some of the places on Overton take section eight now, gotta watch that.
Heard bad things about the Remmington hill complex r/t section eight but ex lived there and didn't have any problems. Good Luck . The Commuters advise is right on.
