Forensic Nurse Practitoner ??

I plan on attending LPN school this fall then doing the LPN-RN on-line. I really want to go into forensic nursing and work out of the ME's office. I have a nurse friend who is encouraging me to further my career and go on to be an APN. I would really rather do forensics, is their such a thing as a Forensic Nurse Practitioner ?

New York City uses PAs and NPs as medical legal examiners:

There are other states that also use PAs in this role. I am not as knowledgeable about NPs in other states.

Boston College has a forensic NP specialty. I'm not exactly sure of the role of the forensic NP, but I believe they are utilized in investigating sexaul assault, child and elder abuse. Not sure about their role in the ME's office.
