FIU- Generic BSN Fall 2019

I am currently in the process of applying to FIU's nursing program, BSN Track, and I want to know ANYONE'S experience on getting into the program. Including your

-overall GPA,

-science GPA,

-TEAS score,

-volunteer hours,

and anything else you feel helped give more weight to your application.

Currently, I am an mdc student in my last semester. I have a 4.0 overall and science GPA, in a week I'll be taking the TEAS exams, and will have at most 115 volunteer hours. PLEASE let me know if there is anything I should do to get my application rank higher!! Thank you for any responses. Also if you are applying too, share your stats and anxieties too ;)

Hey! I think I saw your post on reddit haha. Anyways, you have great stats! I'm also applying to Fall 2019 Generic BSN.

I have a 3.5 overall GPA, 3.4 science GPA, my TEAS score was 89 overall and 78 science, and I have 160 volunteer hours.

I already know how competitive FIU's program is and if I don't get in I won't beat myself up for it! Just gotta have perseverance ?

Good luck! Let us know how you do and I'll do the same.

Yup, that was me ? I'm so excited to find someone applying too. Just took the TEAS (whew) and got 87 overall and 91 science. I should be close to 100 hours now but I'm gonna push. Should I retake TEAS??

I think you're fine! Your science score is AMAZING. To be honest, I wouldn't stress out too much if I were you. You have a great chance of getting in!

I spoke to some of the FIU nursing students at my hospital and they pretty much were like do GREAT on your TEAS. Two of them had zero volunteer hours and a lower GPA when they applied. Not too stressed anymore just gathering all my documents now.

Wow, that's crazy. I feel like people make it seem like getting accepted is harder than is really is? Do you know what their GPAs were?

Hi everyone!

I'm currently an FIU student. My overall and science GPA is a 3.9, I have about 270 volunteer hours and my overall and science TEAS score were both 85. I wish I would've gotten a higher score but I hope mine is good enough.

I'm super anxious to know if I got in or not, I know that the program is highly competitive- only accepting 100 students a year (although I've heard rumors that they only accept 50 from FIU).

Hi!

I'm an FIU student with a 3.9 overall GPA and a 4.0 science GPA. My overall TEAS score was an 89 and my science was an 83, which I hope is good enough. I also volunteered at Nicklaus Children's hospital and have about 200 hours.

Same here, I hope we do!! You all have amazing stats! & if I’m not mistaken, they send out emails in waves starting in May and could even be in early June.

I emailed Christian and he told me that they should start sending decisions in mid to late May. He also said that they received more applications than last year.

I'm kind of worried to be honest, my GPA is 4.0 overall and prereq, however I got an 83 on science in the TEAS and an 87 overall, and I have no volunteer hours. Hopefully my video essay is good enough to balance it or something.
