First semester nursing work

Hi all,

I'm starting a nursing program in January, and it's going to require that I leave my current 9-5 job. I'm hoping to work part time somewhere, and I'd love if that somewhere could actually be relevant to what I'm studying. I know after I finish a round of clinicals I'll be able to work as a PCA or something, but what about before then? Any ideas?

Thanks!

See if your local community college has a CNA class/test, become certified and apply for a CNA job at a hospital you want to work at when you become an RN. It will help you with patient care skills, your first semester of nursing school, and will help once you are looking for a nursing job. Now, I doubt you can study while you do this...

I know my local hospital actually hires PCT without any experience as long as they are willing to be trained and do the work. A lot of nursing homes will train you for the CNA test also. It never hurts to look in to all of your options. Good luck!
