Financial aid

Published

Hi everyone.I hope you are all having a great time.I applied for the financial aid but i don't know if it covers all the three years because as we all know it takes 3 years to become a RN (associate degree not BSN) nurse not onely two years so i hope those who had the situation to clarify things for me

thanks

You have to fill out it again every year, if you're referring to FAFSA.

So it depends on what degree not how many years are you studying ??

Your current financial aid only covers 1 year worth of school. After a year, you have to reapply, and if your financial status hasn't changed much, you should expect to get the same amount.

There are limits in place regarding how much you can expect. This site should answer most of your questions. Help - FAFSA on the Web – Federal Student Aid

Your college should have a financial aid department that can assist you. If you applied for FAFSA, then you will have to re-apply every year. FAFSA will either approve or deny your submission, but it will be the actual school you attend that will handle the money. The FAFSA maxes out at about $5,500 a year (I believe), you'll have to check for the exact amount. That is for the entire year, so half for each semester, or approx. $2,750 per semester. The money will be paid into your school "escrow" account, and the first thing they will do is use it to pay for your classes. Also, we don't know the cost per class for your particular school, your entire FAFSA may not cover the fees, and you will have to pay the outstanding amount.

I suggest meeting with a FA advisor at the school, they will be able to talk you through the process and address your specific concerns.

You apply each year for every year you are a student. I wouldn't even worry about what degree you're doing, how long it is etc...just apply online (make sure you are using the actual government website and not something else!) and state which school you wish to attend. You will also need your tax return information, and perhaps that of your parents if you still live with them etc. Fill out all the forms, and submit. You will either be approved or denied, and then the school will allocate the money as per their agreement with FAFSA.
