Finally Left Nursing!!!!! (but would like to do it very part time)

I don't know about alot of places but I do know you could get into a LTC facility working whenever you wanted. No it's not ICU but you do develop skills and you being a RN will be able to utilize them. At the facility I worked at the RN's did the picc line, blood draws and picc dressing changes. There were other jobs that were RN specific but I can't think of them. The pay is good and if you can find a good facility, you'd probably actually enjoy it. The geriatric population are so sweet. Some are onry, but most just love your attention even if just for a brief moment during med pass. Good luck with your new job and from what I gather your story isn't that unique as far as giving up nursing.

let a snf/ltc facillity know you are available to work q sunday.

many will jump at the opportunity to hire you...esp if there are duties that only an rn can perform.

Hi Pnurseuwm! I do remember you because I was going through a difficult, similar situation at that time. Congrats on your new job! May I ask what it is?

As far as finding a per diem/cont. RN position, it is possible, but may be a little bit harder with less than a year of experience. The LTC facility is a great idea. You could also check into home care agencies or hospices that hire contingent staff. I recently got offered a cont. hospice position and I have less than a year of hospital and no hospice experience. Contact local nursing agencies as well. While the biggest demand is likely for experienced nurses, they sometimes have a couple of facilities that they work with that have relatively easy assignments that wouldn't be beyond your experience so far. I wouldn't count on it, but it's worth looking into.

Well........... I finally found a non-nursing job!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!

I will be doing this during the week, but was wondering if I could do something in nursing like on Sundays...... granted I have less than a year experience as a nurse but is there anything out there?

Some hospitals will hire you to work every weekend, but i don't think just on Sundays. What kind of new job did you get? Curious.
