Finally found a job!

Specializes in LTC/Skilled Care/Rehab.

As many of you know, I have been searching for a job for over a year now. I have looked at hospitals, doctor's offices, nursing homes, you name it! There is a nursing home close to my house that I applied to online about 6 months ago. I never heard anything so I called them and the receptionist said to come in to fill out a job application. I filled out the application, she handed the form to the person from HR and said they would contact me. Two weeks go by and I don't hear anything. I call and say I wanted to follow up on an application that I filled out. HR asked me if I would like to come in for an interview. So the interview was today. I interviewed with the "top nurse" (don't remember the exact title) and she offered me a PRN position. She said that the nursing home did have a bad "reputation" but they were "cleaning house" of all the problem people. She wanted to make sure I was comfortable working in an environment that may be going through some changes.

It is not my ideal job but it sounds like I could gain a lot of experience. She said that they (the people that used to be in charge) used to just put people to work without any orientation. Now they don't do that anymore. I figure that I can work here for a while to see how it works out. My options are pretty limited considering I have been out of school for a year. I'm just happy that I will actually be able to pay some of my bills off. If this doesn't work out I will have to look for something new.

I think that is fantastic. You get incredible experience in a nursing home. You really want the job and I think you will do great.
