field case management

I didn't do field case mangement but I did home health as an RN which is pretty close. I thought I would love the freedom but I didn't like the isolation, long travel hours, wear and tear on my vehicle. I didn't like going in scary neighborhoods and to people's homes that I visited for the first time. Safety is my first priority. The paperwork to me wasn't fully compensated for. I spent hours and was paid a flat fee for certain work no matter the time spent on it. With gas and crime soarring up.......I wouldn't like it. Now telephone case mangement sounds better to me but of course is limited to verbal observations. Just my 2 cents.

If it's hospice, you really have to check each and every detail of what you are responsible for. If you are required to drop all and travel within an hour notice for new admits including ALL case documentation, this on top of your own regular patient load, and are on call 24H for several days of your week, add GIPs, weekly IDTs, recerts, and hospice easily can take your entire life from you. I **** you not.

Sorry, I should have clarified when I posted this the first time but the position is actually for managing injured/disabled workers and getting them back to their highest functioning level. Both very good points with home health and hospice though that I am sure would also be concerns in this position.

Curious to know if you took the position and how it is working out if so. I am considering applying.

I did not get it...came down to me and one other that lived closer to the region they were recruiting for. Obviously it wasn't meant to be but I do think I would have liked it and it would be a great job. Most likely would have taken it, pending final $$ offer, if I had the chance. Keeping my eyes open for other positions in my area like this. Good luck!
