  1. I did not get it...came down to me and one other that lived closer to the region they were recruiting for. Obviously it wasn't meant to be but I do think I would have liked it and it would be a great job. Most likely would have taken it, pending final $$ offer, if I had the chance. Keeping my eyes open for other positions in my area like this. Good luck!
  2. Mu understanding of billable hours is that you have to account for time that you spend working on a case and that can include emails, driving time, phone calls, reports, doctors appointments etc. Some businesses have restricitions on what can be billed for. The company you work for will most likely set a monthly billable number of hours that needs to be met by you in order to maintain your status. Hope that helps.
  3. Yes, I would be interested in talking with you further about this. Do you happen to work for GENEX? It really seems like a great job, but involves a lot of driving which isn't all bad since it's billable.
  4. I think it would be interesting to see how many PTO/sick leave days everyone gets in their varoius positions and if you feel that it is sufficient to create work/life balance. Please indicate how long it took to get to the accrual you are currently at.
  5. I am not certified yet. They require it within 4 years after hire which is nice. I find out tomorrow!
  6. I am considering a job in field case management, mostly involving workmans comp. I know I would like the work, as I have done some case management in the past and really liked it, but I have concerns about work/life balance. Does anyone have any advice on this? I have 3 small children, and the job is home based but would involve quite a bit of driving time, going to doctor's appointments, etc. The appeal of setting my own schedule and not being inside all day is very appealing, however I don't want to end up in a situtation where I am working 50 hours every week because no matter how much I like the work, that will burn me out. I was told that more than 8 hour days is not expected. Thank you in advance for any advice.

  8. Thank you for this information! Very helpful. I have been seeing on some posts that working as a field case manager can result in 50+ hours weekly. Is this the case in your experience? I am looking at workman's comp field management. Thank you!
  9. Sorry, I should have clarified when I posted this the first time but the position is actually for managing injured/disabled workers and getting them back to their highest functioning level. Both very good points with home health and hospice though that I am sure would also be concerns in this position.
  10. Thank you so much. I really appreciate your input.
  11. Good morning to everyone! I am looking for information from nurses that have either worked as a home based field case manager or currently are. Has anyone worked for GENEX or CorVel? I applied for a job with GENEX recently and I am very excited about the opportunity, but have recently had some reservations reading some posts about 50+ hours worked weekly in these types of positions. I have some experience in case management and loved the work so I'm not worried about that, I just don't want to get burned out. Any advice or personal stories? Other information regarding travel time, if you liked working out of your home, PTO, etc would be much appreciated as well. Thank you!
  12. These are all excellent questions, ones that I have myself. Did you ever get an answer for them? Thanks
