Feeling stuck

Published

Need some advice.

I had a job interview oct 11th at a big hospital got moved to the second phase of the hiring process which was the background check and reference check on oct 15th. I emailed the recruiter on October 23rd to see if a decision has been made and was told the unit is in the decision making process right now and she will get back to me. I sent a follow up email to the nurse manager on oct 25 and she said they are still waiting on some of my paperwork and they enjoy me shadowing on the floor and they will get back to me as soon.

My question is does it take that long for a hospital to make an offer and should I move on or continue to follow up with the recruiter. I don't want to be a nag or anything. I just feel stuck right now.

In times past I've gone in for an interview and they had me working the next day.

There are so many steps in the employment process - it can take quite a while if there are any problems along the way. Those problems may be associated with their internal processes & hand-offs, not necessarily on your end. For instance, background checks can take much longer if information is out of state, under different names, etc. Try to be patient, but continue your search. If you end up with another job offer, call the original organization and let them know that unless you have a firm offer from them, you will accept the new one.

It can take some time. I would keep looking in case they decide to not fill that position. Good luck!

Agree....

I waited up to five months to start a job; sometimes it is processing; my current job took about eight weeks to start.

Thanks everyone. I hope it works out. It's hard to get a job as a new grad in connecticut.

You should keep looking until you secure a position. I think it would be ok to call the recruiter in a few more days and ask if there's anything you could do to help that paperwork come along any faster. But maybe that's just me.

I will call early next week to see what's going on and I have been applying but so far that's the only full time position that I've had an interview with. I have a per diem job though that starts tomorrow so I guess that will hold me over in the mean time

That's great! Often I find those roll into permanent positions. I hope you have good luck with it!

I got the job!! After waiting forever I finally got the offer. I'm so excited to be a trauma nurse. God is good prayer and patience works big time :up:
