I have two questions as the time is getting closer for me to do my FCCA and prepare for my CPNE.

The first question is what books can we use for the FCCA??

The second being what resources do you recommend for preparing fro the CPNE. I plan on getting the skills kit and will have the guide printed. What do you think of the DVD and the workbook?

Thanks in Advance for all your help.

I used my Mosby's for the FCCA, maybe one other text book, I can't remember...but it wasn't anything I had to go out and spend more money on :-)...as for CPNE, I used the Study Guide religiously, the skills kit, which was worth every penny I spent on it, I made note cards out of the critical elements that went everywhere but the shower with me (should've laminated them!) and I used the Perry & Potter skills book to reference all procedures that I wasn't 100% sure about. And, I know it's more money, but if you can swing it, I went to Tina Logan's workshop...there are several that were great, but the workshop experience just kind of pulled it all together and gave me a better understanding of what they expected of me when I got to the real thing. And I started sending care plans to Excelsior asap, that was the hard part for me! Good luck!! Julie

I just attended the cllinical prep exam with lynn in north carolina. It is an amazing help and i would recomend a workshop of somekind before taking your CPNE. Lynn's is the one I found with the best track record of pass to fail ratio. I am however having trouble with my FCCA. I can not figure out what exactly they want on it. My email is [email protected] if anyone has any info at all about this it would be greatly appreciated as the time is ticking by as I type!!!

I'm freaking out about the CPNE. Do very many people have to wait up to 8 months to take it? I do the FCCA the middle of next month, anyone have any pointers? I can't wait for all of this to be done. I think the state boards will be a walk in the park after all the stress of the CPNE, deciding what materials to study is so tough because there is so muuch out there!

I got a date 3 months away from the time I applied. I even got a cancellation offered only 2 months away, but turned it down because I wanted the 3 months to study :)

Yes the workshop was great. It is not like excelsiors workshop which is not a teaching workshop. Lynn breaks everything down for you. An IV push and counting a drip rate is really all you do with an IV beside assessing the site. You don't have to start one.

What do you do at EC's workshop? I was planing on taking theirs as they give the test, If they don't teach what do they do? Now I have to rethink the workshop!

Hi, just joined the group. I have completed my theory and am waiting on pkg for FCCA and then registering for CPNE. Kind of nervous. Glad to complete the theory part :yeah:. Congrats, to all those that have completed it. Good job:yeah:.

any adivse will be helpful. Which is the best place to get CPNE done. I am overwhelmed:redbeathe:uhoh3:

what pkg are you waiting for for the FCCA I start that class the end of this month and know nothing of a package

What is the Lynn workshop and where.

Amy, I googled CPNE workshops and found her webpage. I will consider a workshop but I live in Seattle so getting there and paying for it and then saving for CPNE is $$, of course, worth it for the career.
