False positive!!!! Help

Has anyone received a false positive from a hair test? I received a false positive for cocaine and never in my life touched the stuff or around it. In tpapn for a positive screen for a Narcotic i didn't have a rx for prior to my surgery 5 months ago. The only medications i take are gabapentin, melatonin prn, ibuprofen prn and atenolol/hctz. Im so confused right now. The mro said the levels were low enough to be caused by outside hair products but still over the cutoff. I need help. I'm innocent of this and have no way to prove my caseand scared to death of having another false positive.

You said "another false positive". What was your first false positive for?

I stated it at the beginning. False positive for cocaine hair sample. I've never touched nor been around it or anyone who does it.

The MRO said it's low enough to be caused by outside hair products so there you go. It sounds like something is wrong with the cutoff level they are using. Are they letting it go? It sounds like they are letting it go.

Why did you get a hair test in the first place? Does everyone in your program get one or was there a reason?

Everyone in the program gets this. My case manager stated that it doesn't "matter " since it's the beginning for me. But if it happens again then it will be a big issue. And it will remain on my file. I am just wondering if this has happened before to someone on here or if anyone has any advice moving forward.

Yeah my advise is to get a lawyer if this happens again. Hopefully it won't. They sound shady using a cutoff so low that it could be from products. Are they going to do any hair tests in the future?

I had a false positive for alcohol once... the level was very low. They did another test to clear me, a different test called a PEth test and that was negative. They gave me some kind of warning to be careful about products I use but I honestly think it was a lab error in the first place.

I think they are. Its absolutely awful. To be evaluated with this false positive. They're going to want to throw me in to a rehab that i don't belong. I can't even afford a lawyer to battle this. I went and did a self test today. I'm so lost right now.

what hair products would cause this??

amoxicillin, and ampicillin. some studies seem to imply the prep for testing is lacking, but they were older, hopefully, (or not, lol) the testing has improved.

He wasn't specific on what hair products. I haven't taken but ceftin in November as far as antibiotics. I dont know what had caused this. All i know is that I'm devastated and scared to death of having this happen again when I'm completely innocent. Never in my life done cocaine or any other street drug.
