Fall 2020 USF BSN Program

Hi everyone, I decided to make a post about USF’s BSN program because I hadn’t seen one already created. I just submitted my application but I don’t feel very confident, I have a 4.0 prerequisite gpa but my overall gpa is a 3.22, I am a current USF student. I hope someone can give me insight into if I have a chance or not. Good luck to everyone applying.

I got denied:(

Have you applied to other schools? I applied to SPC as my backup, I know that application is still open as well as UNF's. ? There are many pathways to becoming a nurse.

Hi Ladies. I asked this before and did not get a response. Did you all apply for the accelerated second degree BSN program at USF? I am going to try next year. I have a BS in Chemistry now. Did you look at Keiser? Thus seems pretty stressful. Is it really just based on your GPA?

We all applied for the regular program first time bachelor's degree I believe. Or at least I did LOL. It's based on GPA and interview for the regular program, I would imagine the ABSN is the same. I think you can find past threads on the ABSN on this site though!

WOW!. USF seems tough.

Definitely SPC then for you. I’m taking the prereqs I need there now. It is $11k for your program so it’s affordable too.

Thank you for answering me. I’ve been on edge watching this!

Good luck, but you won’t need it. You will be great.

Nurses should be in HUGE demand after what we are going through now. ?

I'm originally from SCF and took my prereqs there, awaiting a decision but I was missing a letter from my employer so I'm pretty sure they're going to deny me. My biggest concern with USF is that I won't be able to afford it, I get Pell Grant which covered SCF and my LPN program entirely but I'm hoping if I get accepted as an alternate (fingers crossed) I can get scholarships or something ? What do SPC students say about the nursing program there? I've heard one negative thing on this site, but mostly good things!

Thanks, good luck to you as well! ♥️

May I ask the cost?

Again, I have a BS so I will try to get into the accelerated second degree program to get my BSN.

USF is very inexpensive for that, about $13k.

After USF the least expensive for that program is.... $40,000. It goes up to $56,000.

I already spent a fortune at Eckerd. That’s why I would love to get into USF.

For this program they will not take resumes or letters of recommendation which I think is ridiculous. I went pre-med and have been a chemist forever, but I will be bypassed by someone who graduated from a community college majoring in Art? Because they have a higher GPA? ?

I am going to write them.

Keep your head up and keep me posted.you are a LPN! I would think that gives you clout? ?

Overall, it's gonna be about 14,000 total for USF. However, I live about an hour from Tampa and I'm not sure how commuting is going to work so I might end up moving up there - could be an extra 6,000 dollars.

Also, as long as you get in to the interview you can tell them about how you were premed and your past experiences!

I’d definitely move this way. You’ll burn out fast.

I am 49. Changing careers. When I went to school I was much younger and did not take it as seriously as I should, thus my GPA is about 3.4. They say bottom is 3.0, but again with an easier major and a higher GPA, they will get in first. All the prereqs, even from back then are all As, so....

I’ll give it a shot. All they can do is say no. ?

Did anyone not receive an answer yet?

@koltira If it helps at all, the students offered admission need to accept by April 3rd, so hopefully around that date they’ll start accepting alternates to fill spots of those who choose to go to other schools!

Thanks so much for letting me know! No idea what position I am on the list but USF is my #1 choice. Are you a USF prenursing student?
