I truly need help passing the R.N Boards? I've taken the boards 3 times and I'm really want to pass this time. Please give me tips. I've taken Kaplan, Life Saver, and Dr. Cochran and no success! Now I don't know what review company to take. I'm totally tired of taking review and zero results!

I too have taken the NCLEX quite a few times and failed so i can truly relate to you. I can tell you all the things i did in order to pass.
What i did was study the content out of different books because i felt that maybe i just didnt know the content as well as I thought. I read about 6 different books so that if it never stuck in my head from one or two books it will by the 6th (each book had over 1000 questions that I answered as well). After I had read enough content I then did alot of questions from books that had nothing but question. I read the rationales for each and every questions even if i got the answers right. I then did computerized questions from different sources..ex: Kaplan, mosby, saunders, etc..., Study labs, drugs, herbal drugs also, disaster planning, and prioritizing.
These are things that I did and I passed. It took me about 4 months of intensive studying and alot of focusing. Everywhere i went i carried my flash cards with questions so that i could study.
It was a long and hard journey but i made it and so can you. Dont be discouraged. I say that because i was so depressed when i kept failing but i was determined to become an nurse so my determination is what kept me from drowning in my tears. I will keep you in my prayers and I wish you well on your next exam. Stay focused and be blessed.
you can send me a message if you have any questions.

Hi!
I', sorry to hear that you failed again. I understand your feelings. I also failed twice. I found that my problem was with content. I enrolled in Hurst Online review. So far I'm learning so many things that I just heard before but didn't understand. For purpose of answering questions and reading content as worded by the state board of nursing, I signed up for NCSBN.ext for 5 weeks. Hope this info helps you. One thing to remember is DO NOT ALLOW YOUR CONFIDENCE TO BREAK YOUR SPIRITS. YOU WILL PASS THIS TEST. Take a break and start up again with a whole new study method. It's working for me. I'll let you know when I pass my test. Good luck to you!

I took the NCLEX yesterday, it stopped @ 75. I'm sure of only 2 questions, the other 73 I just guessed. I prepared really good for this test, I have a lot of knowledge and dominate the test taking techniques, answered tones of NCLEX style questions, but I think nothing can prepare you for the NCLEX!!!

123jeannie---you can and you will do this!!
Hurst Review is outstanding...You will learn things for this online review that you may not have learned in nursing school. Marlene Hurst is the president of the company and she does and outstanding job. You will actually enjoy studying for the NCLEX. She will have you cracking up laughing meanwhile you are learning.
If you have any questions you email them and an instructor will get back with you in 24-48 hours to address any questions that you may have.
Once you have learned the content then you should review questions. She provides a really good MOCK NCLEX where she explains each rationale. After completing all her content and questions then I would move on to more questions from sources like NCLEX 3500/4000, Alternate NCLEX Format book and Kaplan.
Just remember to relax and pray. If you have a lot going on in your personal life that will also hinder your performance.
You can do this..
If you need anything else just let me know.

Jeannie, sorry to hear that you didn't pass. I have failed twice as well. I know exactly how you are feeling. I started doing Suzannes plan this week. You might check that out, there is a sticky for info. I've seen nothing but good things from people who have used her plan & passed. Take some time for yourself now and come back to studying once you clear your head. Then hit it again refreshed & ready to pass. Stay positive, you CAN do this!!! :icon_hug:

Here's an old thread that has good strategies for success in taking any test. RainDreamer's advice is great for the NCLEX, too.

It really is about the
ABC's and Maslow's concentrate when you are taking the test and follow those 2 simple formats. Who is the first one to go down?

I also failed twice. I am going to start Suzanne's Plan this week. I have tried online Kaplan and used the Hurst Review the 2nd time. I am truly burnt out on studying, but I have heard nothing but good things about Suzanne's Plan so what do I have to lose. I figure if we made it thru nursing school, we should be able to pass this silly test. Best of luck to you!
