Hey guys, so I just got the break down of my test. It shows that i was near the passing standard for everything which is kind of disheartening. I took kaplan the first time around and was wondering if I should take some other course. I'm thinking about hursts, since i hear so many things about it. But i also heard ready to pass was really good but that class is a lot more expensive. I feel i might not know the content as well so just doing questions from the kaplan q bank was not enough. Even though i went through the rational it felt like i would only understand it pertaining to that question. Any ideas? I'm also thinking taking it no longer than 60 days, that way I dont forget too much. I know i have to sit out for 45 days so maybe a week or 2 more for extra prep.
Attached below is the breakdown of my test.
Thank you

Did you meet the requirements for the Kaplan guarantee?

If you feel like you still need to understand more the content go for Hurst. Try UWorld as well they have great rationalization (don't get me wrong Kaplan helped me a lot as well) and they offer a week of free trial so you can decide if you want to avail it or not. The link on Uworld free trial is at facebook try adding it first on facebook. Good luck and stay positive. You can do it!

I would definitely recommend hurst. Also with Kaplan, take the question banks in tutor mode, this helps to understand the question and rationale much more than reviewing it afterwards. I did both hurst and Kaplan and passed in 75, but all the questions on Kaplan, I knew the answers from hurst.
Be sure to complete all of the question banks as well.. When creating bank, select incorrect and unused and it will eventually stick! Hope this helped!

I will preface my answer with this: I did not take any of the study courses prior to attending the NCLEX. I did pass and the computer shut off at 75 questions. Here is what I did, I don't know if that will help you. I did a lot of questions from the NCLEX 4000 program and also I used the Saunders 6th E book and computer program that came with the book (if memory serves), both in a mode that allowed me to check the rationales for the answers both right and wrong. If memory serves, the Saunders program broke the questions down into the same categories that the NCLEX does as shown in your results sheet. Then what I did was just simply hammer away at each category until I got most of them correct most of the time. If there was something that I simply did not know or did not recall, I would go research that so that I would have that fresh in my mind. I also set up the programs to give me typical lengths of an NCLEX so that I was also getting used to taking the exam in terms of length of time as well as content.
Since it appears that you were near passing standard in almost every area, you probably simply need to focus on the general area that you did not do so well in and review those other areas. It should go without saying, but I'll say it anyway that the next time it that you take the NCLEX, you will not see the same questions again, so it is possible that you might have a mix of questions that you understand better or potentially worse than the last time you attempted the exam. The way the system is designed, however, I would expect that it will still find your limitations and hopefully the next time you will find yourself consistently above passing standard in all areas.
Good luck and happy studying!
PS: you have now see the elephant and the next time he you attempt the NCLEX, you will not have the same nervousness as you did the first time around because you have seen it before.

I think the others here pretty much said it all. Noted, though, that you were near passing standard in all areas EXCEPT one: that one was below the passing standard. This should tell you that Pharm is an especially weak area; while you need to bone up on the other domains in order to pass, you ESPECIALLY need to focus on this area. Last thing you want is to pass in everything but end up "near passing" on Pharm next time!
Good luck :)
How do you take the kaplan q banks in tutor mode? I only have options for unused only, unused and incorrect, incorrect, all. Then gives me topics to pick or all topics and the amount of questions.
Did you follow the rules for completing the program from Kaplan? If you did and are a first-time tester who failed despite it, you'd be eligible for a re-take with them. Money back? Don't recall the details.

^^^This!!! If you paid for the program, are a first time test taker and you completed the program, you should be eligible for the re-take/refund with Kaplan. I would definitely look in to it.
The content video in Kaplan for Pharm is about 3 hours, but it's well worth it if Pharm is a weak area. You were close to passing in the other areas, so you should be able to remediate well and re-take with success.
Good luck to you, OP

I do not meet the requirements for a refund. The last two question trainers i did it with my friend on his account. So that kind of sucks I think one of the posters read it wrong. i was below the passing standard for reduction of risk potential. Pharm i was near passing. I think I will look into hursts and shell out another 300. Thanks guys
That was me; my eye skipped a line. Still....what does that matter? As long as YOU know where you were below passing, and fix it....all is good :)
