For the last few years, EC grads have been able to endorse in with 960 hours of RN practice in another state. EC grads can now do licensure by exam if they find a place to work with a provisional license for a certain amount of hours. Finding a site will be difficult, given that there are new grads RNs who don't even need to take the provisional license step who can't find jobs.

There is more info on EC's site: http://www.excelsior.edu/state-board-requirements

I don't recommend the EC route unless you have no other options. There is more information on EC's ADN program here: https://allnurses.com/excelsior-college-online/excelsior-college-distance-808335.html

Im at a major hospital in Norfolk, VA and I am hoping that when I finish the program that they allow me to work here provisionally.

I called the Bon the other day and I was told that I would have to work in every area taught in nursing school (ie: peds, ob, med-surg, emergency...), all while being superived by a RN who is on the unit at all times. This RN can only supervise a few provisionals at a time. Idk if they are going to go for that but I am really hopeful that they will. Otherwise I will have to go PRN here and trek across state line to find work. :/ *fingers crossed*
