Has any LPNs recently finished the LPN to RN program thru Excelsior in VA? I thought that the BON cutout Excelsior, But now I have heard that you can get your RN thru Excelsior in VA. Someone enlighten me! thanks in advance.

Thanks for your replies.... Was just told today that I don't qualify for enough financial aid:( so now I am back to square one... uggghhhh!

I live in between DC and Richmond, VA This is what I have found: 1. Most major hospitals have phased out LPNs, because of MAGNET Status hospitals are striving to get. 2. As nothing is certain for the future, but for now, I don't see CNAs and CMAs taking over LPN jobs. 3. I think that no matter what nursing degree you have, you will always be encouraged to continue to nursing education, so to say just to stay as an LPN, may not give you as many opportunities if you would further your education. 4. In my area there are plenty of LPN positions available, from home health, Dr. offices to nursing homes. I have not had a problem finding as position since being an LPN. That said if you limit yourself to only being available one shift it may be harder to find a position.

Hey all I have been an LPN for the last 2 years and feel it is time to get my RN. I have enrolled to start in a program in February 14'. I'm very excited, but very nervous as well. I am a single parent with 2 young children. I will be working overnight to support my family, in which I will have my sister 'spend the night' with them and take them to school in the AM. School is only 3 days a week. I know it is going to be a hard 12 months, but I feel it is the right time and I am motivated to earn my RN. With all this being said.....I do not have support from my family, I guess they do not understand why I have to get my RN and I will just be so busy. But I think that it will be well worth it to get it done and over with. Is anyone else going thru the same thing or have previously went thru this before? Just looking for a little encouragement!! Thanks.
