Hi,
I am interested in going to excelsior but I keep hearing these horrible stories about the CPNE and how mostly men are being passed with the exception of a few women. If there is anyone who can give me information on excelsior I would greatly appreciate it. I am looking for people who graduated from there or did not succeed. Please help. I would love to make a decision. Thanks.

Check out allnurses Excelsior FAQ section for advice posted by our Mod Team staff who've attended this program, especially
The Clinical Performance in Nursing Exam (CPNE): what the heck is this madness?!

Run,its a all good program, but that cpne, its a scam, they pick who they want to pass, that's why they don't want to students to talk to each other doing the cpne, just go to a normal school, their is a reason California wont except it.Oh check out the law suit against them for cpne.

I never heard that mostly men pass. I personally know 6 Excelsior grads, 5 are women, 1 is male (and I am male). so 2/7 male passing does not sound like mostly men to me.
The CPNE is a very difficult ordeal. I would not ever want to do anything like it again and am happy I passed my first attempt. It is difficult for a reason, it is the only clinical evaluation you have, so they must make sure you are competent.
Coolbean has a grudge against Excelsior for whatever reason, not sure if they are a failed attempt at it or what.
As for the lawsuit, it is baseless. It is 17 students from 11 states saying Excelsior hid things about the program that made it cost more and delayed their graduation.

Don't believe everything you read. Mostly men? That's a new one! lol. When I did the CPNE in 2008, the only guy with us failed (for something that was his own fault, too). You will always hear horror stories about the CPNE, particularly from those who had a bad experience. Take it with a grain of salt.
Thank you all for your comments. This helps me a great deal. I will be sure to come back here for advise. :-)
