Hello everyone. I will be done with my LPN program next month :wink2:. I am not able to stay at my school and complete the RN portion so I am looking for online options. I have heard that Excelsior is a good online school but am wondering if anyone knows from experience?

Some states do not accept Excelsior students for licensure.

i graduated from excelsior's program and what the previous poster is true. i believe four states no longer accept excelsior: california, maryland, georgia, and kansas. i may be incorrect in that listing so someone, feel free to correct me. the primary reasoning ( as i have heard it) for this is that these states (as well as others) are developing/ have already developed distance learning bridge programs.
excelsior is a fine, albeit, difficult program. had i not had newborn twins with medical issues i very well might have chosen a local bridge or accelerated bsn program. the program requires a great deal of self discipline and many hours of self study. the clinical component was very difficult and very stressful. is it doable? yes. easy? absolutely not.

Actually it is more than 8 states now that do not accept Excelsior in one form or another.
I am moving this thread to the Distance Learning Forum where it is more appropriate.

This is a pretty good list: http://www.istudysmart.com/content.asp?cid=70
The only state up in the air right now (and not accurately reflected on that page) is Georgia.
thanks lunah, i couldn't recall exactly whom does and whom does not accept excelsior. i know that the state listings have changed considerably since i attended.
