Hello everyone. I graduated in May 09 and have decided to continue with Excelsior RN-MSN program. I get my motivation from hearing about other students success. I am trying to find those students and have been unsuccessful, except for a thread here and there. WHERE ARE YOU GUYS? I haven't enrolled in the program from fear that I will be all alone and easily discouraged. HELP!

Maria, I've been scouring the planet for an MSN program that I can accomplish with all of my constraints. I have recently been considering Excelsior, in fact, it was recommended by a nurse I work with who just earned her BSN through them. I recieved my BSN from U of PHoenix.
I have a question for you, if this program is all pass/fail, no grades, then how do you go anywhere from here? You can't get a doctorate or move onto FNP or anything else? This is what I've heard!! Yikes!
love to hear your thouhts,

I just dropped from the EC BSN. There are a lot of requirements for videotaping various sessions and sending them in and I simply do not have the resources I need to do it.

Sue,
Are you referring to Teaching Across the Cultures and the Health Assessment courses?
I only have these two left and then the BSN capstone course. How far did you get?
Melody
Really? I think I got that from an advisor at WSU !
I'm going to have to check this myself. I'd heard from a major university that the credits are not transferable because there's no grade!!.. I know this to be the case at Western Governer's University, they told me themselves, that their program won't work for me if I need grades to go onto a program beyond there's. What a disservice to acquire your BSN or MSN from an institution just to find out that you can't add to it. Even a post graduate cert course, such as most FNP's are asking for your gradepoint average, and specific classes to have been taken, or... you can take them over again!! Ridiculous that there isn't some standard that they have to adhere to so that students don't get these special surprises later on.
Is Excelsior and Regis the same organization, just at a different education level, do you know?
REGENTS is the old name of Excelsior.
Excelsior awards grades.

I am enrolled in EC MSN program. Have a BS in another field. EC awards grades, the pass/fail is for the ASN Clinical Performance Nursing Exam and a 1 credit computer lit course.
Yes, Excelsior awards grades. I feel confident with their program. I just want to find other students that are currently in the program, so as to have some peer motivation and guidance.
Sue, do you have plans on starting another program?
Maura, can you tell me more about how the program is going for you? I would very much appreciate it.
You can email me.

Yup. Were you in them with me? I submitted the assessment and got dinged on all sorts of thngs and they wanted a re-do, plus the taped teaching session was due. I do NOT have access to a clinical exam room! I was trying all sorts of things and ended up borrowing the lab in the local CC's nursing school. Not a great location - kids coming in on breaks, etc. I got dinged for lousy audio, because I dried my hands on a cloth towel and didn't discard it in the non-existenet dirty bin - all kinds of crap. I had already re=done ot because the person we paid to tape it texted through the whole thing. I am NOT a producer.
Maria, I'll be going with Chamberlain. They don't require any of this crap.
Maria,
I am taking the semester off due to money problems, and I really need to concentrate on my new job and my son for a few months. I will PM you when I get back to it, likely in the spring.
