Excelsior in Florida?

There are no issues with licensure in florida, right? I had looked into that before and didn't see any problems....however I just read in a post that you cannot be licensed in FL unless you have 2 years experience? Any info?

Your best bet is to check with the BON. Excelsior should have info listed on their website, also, if there are any issues or additional requirements. I know of quite a few Florida nurses who graduated after I did (2010) and had no problems obtaining licensure there.

No issues or additional requirements per the message I received from the Excelsior nursing adviser last week. I sent a message to ask about any additional requirements since I moved to FL since starting the program and plan to seek licensure here. Hope that help.

Thanks for the help. I had not seen where it would be a problem but like to cover all my bases just to be safe!

No, there aren't any limitations getting licensed in Florida after graduating through Excelsior College. I reside in Florida and emailed the Florida Board of Nursing before I even applied, and got a thumbs up :D. I checked the B.O.N. website to see if Excelsior is an approved college to earn your A.S.N. degree. And yes, Excelsior was listed: rn-nclex code and all. I also have recently spoke with a few RN's :nurse: here in Florida who obtained their A.S.N. degree through Excelsior. I haven't heard anything about having to have 2 years experience before getting licensed.

I have been a Florida RN since 2010, I had to wait until July 2010 to apply because that was when the law that allowed EC grads to license by examination rather then endorsement became effective. Renewed twice no problems. Good luck Steve
