excelsior cpne

Published

Hello!

I am graduating in 3 weeks as an LPN, and I really want to do excelsior to transition to RN. I have heard alot of good things about it, but scary things too (CPNE). Any advice about the CPNE or opinions about the program.

It just makes me really nervous about paying 2000$ for the cpne, if theres a high chance i may fail it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks:nurse:

If you can get into a traditional RN program, then do that. Save Excelsior for Plan B. Clinical classes in a traditional program are exponentially easier than the CPNE, although the CPNE is doable.

don't worry about the cpne now. take nursing exams first then worry about the cpne when you are eligible. cpne is doable.

good luck finishing lpn school.

There's not a "high chance" you will fail it if you prepare properly. :) I think the current pass rate is 64% for first-time takers. This means that 36% of first-time takers are not preparing the right way. It is very doable on the first go around.

I would agree with caliotter, however, that clinicals in a traditional program are easier. If you make a mistake in a traditional clinical, you get corrected. If you make a mistake in CPNE, you pack up and try again later.

I think the fail percentage for CPNE is pretty much comparable to the fail-out rate in a traditional program, though. The only difference is that Excelsior students get failed out in the end, while traditional students drop out along the way.
