Euthanasia and effect it has on nursing

Published

Hi everyone!! This is my very first post. I just joined a few minutes ago. I am a nursing student. I am in the first quarter of my program, so I am just getting started. I want to know what the effect euthanasia has on nursing. I am doing a legal/ethical paper on euthanasia and that is something I need to cover in my paper and I am having a little trouble with that. Hope someone can help!!!!!!!!!:banghead:

I am a little confused by your post. Do you believe that nurses participate in "mercy killings" or are you mistaking the withdrawl of artificial life support for euthanasia?

Please clarify.

Do a search here on AN and you will find some great threads with info you are looking for. Also, Google it. Good Luck!:grpwlcm:

Your University's library should have journals you can access. Generally ethics papers need citations so you need to resource the right kind of literature.

Have fun with the paper, ethics is really interesting.

Well handled all.

If you can find it, I recommend Contemporary Issues in Bioethics, 7th edition, by Tom Beauchamp, editor. It has an excellent section on euthanasia and the ethical issues it raises. My BSN program requires a bioethics/writing class, and this book was our required textbook..we had many spirited discussions :yeah: Hope this helps!

I want to thank everyone for replying. Your info helped. I visited the site one of you suggested. It was very helpful. In response to the person who wanted me to clarify, I need to write about what effect euthanasia has on nursing. That is all my instructor told us. Thaks to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
