Ethical Paper Thesis

Published

Hi All!

Looking for some guidance, I have an ethical paper due. I wanted my thesis to involve Forensic nursing --remaining objective, not being sympathetic but empathetic(these are some ideas I have, but I am open)--I just can't nail down a thesis statement--any suggestions?

Thanks!

Try writing the thesis statement then posting it here for feedback. You have to get it started, otherwise you're essentially asking others to do the writing for you.

thanks--good idea...didn't realize the post came across like that..

Here is what I have so far, any feedback would be appreciated,

Nurses are expected to deliver patient care with respect in the most caring professional manner. Forensic Nurses -SANE trained, often see heinous acts committed against individuals of all ages. However difficult, it is imperative for the Forensic nurse to remain objective, while gathering evidence for both sides.

I think you almost have it. Your first sentence covers all nurses; your second sentence specifies the uniqueness of Forensic nursing, but then your third sentence can apply to all nurses again.

"Remain objective" is the goal for all nurses. IMO, the only thing that sentence needs is something inherently unique to Forensic nursing, like "...to self-assess for one's own reaction to the event, remain objective, and commit to nonjudgmental care, while..."

It can be argued that every nurse should self-assess, but in Forensic nursing it seems much more necessary for every patient the nurse comes in contact with.

Including the self-assessment wording might also give you more to work with in the rest of the paper.

Just a suggestion. Good luck!

Might work the emphathy aspect into the first line, of treating "with respect and empathy"
