Epic class

Featured Replies

You can't just take EPIC training outside of a hospital course. My hospital just went to EPIC and we had tons of online modules and 12 hours of in class training. I didn't really learn that much and I am supposed to be using EPIC myself. HTH

I have not heard of these being offered outside of a job. Where I work, Epic training is part of orientation and I doubt they would waive it even for a new hire who has used Epic previously. I think this is because Epic is customizable for individual health systems.

It's good that you want to be prepared, though!

HAHAHAHA!! I thought you were going to tell us about a totally awesome class you were taking in school!!

Part of your orientation will be on Epic. If you love it, you may want to become a "super user" as time goes on. However, there are not a lot of courses specific to certain EMR's.

THEN, there's you tube......

Each hospital/entity has their own version of Epic. You would need to be trained on the specific version that is in place where you work. It actually is fairly easy to navigate.

Also, each unit has specific things they need to chart. I work on an ortho unit so I don't need to have Apgar scores on my flowsheet ;)
