im really confused..
first.. after nclex, you ll need to take ielts.. right? after that ull undergo visa screen ( payment is around 550 dollars)
after visa screen whats next? find an employer? after finding an employer whats next?
second.. records will be erased if ur in cali (3years) , u cant have reciprocity because u dont have a hard licensed yet..
so u have to apply for an nclex exam else where??? ( what state would u recommend? same procedure as applyng for eligibility in CALI? ) then ask the CALI BON to transfer your scores to that state... then that state would give you a hard license.. BUT i want to work in CALI... so then i can have my reciprocity because i got a hard license on my second state..
AM I RIGHT? just want to know...

You do not have to wait for VSC before looking for a employer, you can look once you have passed NCLEX. Ca we have seen have a high unemployment rate at the moment so may find it hard to find a employer.
With retrogression you are looking at the moment longer than 3 years, you will need to apply for license by exam and arrange Ca to forward your results. Once in the US and have a SSN you can then apply to Ca BON even if you have a license in another state Ca will still not endorse without a SSN. Be aware that a few more states are now requiring proof of citizenship/residence before issuing a license but they will not destroy your file
@silverdragon
so what state would be best to apply for the mean time that would issue and send a hard license here in the phiippines?
^^ so ill have to pay the eligibility again, att and scheduling? then pay the CA BON to transfer my results??
which state would issue a hard license eventhough your still not a citizen of US?
i think i would not wait for the 3 years.. i really want to be safe... we dont know
if they ll change their rulings soon... ^^
There are already a few threads on this, Vermont is one a lot of foreign nurses use. Which ever state you decide you will still have to meet their requirements for foreign trained nurse ie CES from CGFNS etc, you will not have to pay for NCLEX again if you have already sat and passed it just arrange for Ca to send your results to new BON
some attorney told me that if your already in the process... ( forgot whats that called) something like your papers are already sent to the employer... the 3 years wouldnt count.. is this true?
Once you have approval for I140 then you are affected by retrogression and waiting years, they are talking rubbish
Plus the 3 years for Ca has nothing to do with immigration

Licensure and immigration are two very different things and actually are not related. If that is the advice that this attorney is giving you now, suggest that you seek another attorney.
Please be very aware that it is going to be extremely difficult for a hospital to start the petitioning for you whenever you pass the NCLEX exam and have those results. There is about a 10% unemployment rate and nurses are getting laid off in the state as well.
You are probably looking at about 7 years for a chance at a green card at the earlist, the VSC is only valid for five years. I would not worry about getting that done or you are going to need to renew it again and pay all of the money again for it.
Wait until you see things opening up or only if the employer requires that you get it now.
so i think ill have to transfer my result to another state that will not destroy my file, or yet a state that would issue me a hard license to be sent here in the philipppines.. am i correct?
Yes either a state that will not destroy your file or will issue a license. You do not need a hard license yet and can easily be sorted once in the US with a legal work permit and a SSN
i see thanks suzzanne... would you recommend any state? from your experience which one should i pick? silver said vermont... would that be OK? it shouldnt have cgfns or that training thing in chicago....

thanks a lot for helping me... thanks so much
It depends on where you actually plan to work, or should say where you have the best chances of getting petitioned. Each state can set their own requirements for licensure, and VT also has put new ones into place if you are wishing to get licensed there and you wrote the exam for CA. Check out their website.
The majority of states are actually no longer issuing licenses without a SSN#, so that should not be your focus; rather one that will not destroy your file in a limited amount of time without the SSN#. Almost all of the states that still issue the license without the SSN# actually require the CES be completed first by CGFNS.
If you have passed the NCLEX, then you do not need to pay for the exam again, and you will not be getting another ATT. You cannot use the endorsement procedure since you do not hold a license currently in the US.
