Ekg help

I have to take a pass of fail ekg test. I ahve been told it is very hard. I have to id the strip and incite every intervention for every strip. I have sites for strip reading but I am looking for sites to help with all interventions. I have been told think like a doctor, anticipate every thing a doc would do.

Thanks

In my experience the EKG tests' standard rythms and arrhtmias you would encounter on a regular basis. NSR, SB, ST, heart blocks (know all three types), VF, VT, AFib, AFlutter, Junctionals, SVT, PAC's, PVC's. Ask for a study guide from your facility. If it is a pass or fail, they probably want to help you prepare so that you can become an asset.

I have one of those little EKG books for dummies that you can carry in your pocket. It has all of that stuff. Like twenty dollars. Cause, what to look for, what to do, treatment. I read it front to back in like half an hour.

It may be a good idea to take a 12 lead class for CEU's and further competence/confidence in reading strips and EKG's. My current job requires all staff who are involved with telemetry patients (whether you're an RN, CNA or LPN) to take a 4 hour class and have continued competency with review and a test every year.

Get an ACLS book. All of rhythms are posted on an algorithm that delineates treatment. I'm sure that will be the source used for your test. Good luck :yeah:
