I am a experienced paramedic of 18 years. I was already enrolled in a RN program (at a state college with a BSN program) and had completed one semester. I contacted EC to see if my they would accept my preqs and the RN classes that I had already completed. They advised me they would only look at my classes and give me a answer AFTER I enrolled and paid them over $1000. This did not make sense to me, so I questioned them (in a very nice manner) to be sure I was understanding them correctly. The lady on the phone became somewhat rude and then told me they would not accept ANY of my completed nursing courses, and that I would have to take theirs, and will be charged for them. I said, "thank you for your time, as she quickly hung-up on me. Looks like my money is staying in my current RN program.

Nothing new about this policy. They have always accepted many of the general ed type classes, but not nursing classes. Very few nursing schools accept nursing courses from other programs.
The problem was that she (after I questioned her a bit more) led me to believe that many of my general ed classes would most likely not be accepted as well, and that I would have (she keep talking about "paying" for their preq classes), to have to take many of theirs. That's when the $1000+ enrollment fee came in, in order for EC to even look at them. Thanks for the reply!!
I can understand not taking nursing classes from other institutions. I was hoping that maybe they could take one or two of them. The problem was that she (after I questioned her a bit more about my preqs) led me to believe that many, and she stressed the word "many" of my general ed classes would most likely not be accepted as well, and that I would have (she keep talking about "paying" for their preq classes), to take many of theirs. That's when the $1000+ enrollment fee came in, in order for EC to even look at them. Thanks for the reply!!

Double post.
Is your current program regionally accredited? That is the only reason that I could think of (other than the possibility of any course not being college-level) that EC would not accept any of the general education credits...oh, and the age of certain credits. I agree with the previous poster that said nursing courses do not usually transfer from program to program.
Knowledge Base - Can I transfer in credits from other schools and apply them toward my degree requirements?

This is what you'll get from a for-profit school. Stay at your state school and thank your lucky stars.

about 5 years ago they implemented some kind of five year rule for credit acceptances. and you do not have to pay the 100 dollar fee before they evaluate your transcripts you just have to pay the application fee for that.
