Drexel ACE(Fall 2006)

Does anyone have any firsthand information regarding having to pay tuition "upfront" at drexel -- ACE program?

Quickly had to say that I received my decision letter....

Devon- I guess I will be utilizing your service...is it possible we could set up a day during the summer that you can show me around town or anyone else that's interested ....Charley- maybe you'd like to jump on the bandwagon if Devon accepts this position. Devon, If you're not able to I understand, people do have lives. But I will be asking plenty of questions though.

For those of you who got in, if you don't mind, what's your cum. gpa/pre-req gpa? Or, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, what "may" be the avg.'s of those getting in.

Lunise and Charley --- I would absolutely be happy to give you a tour around the city if you would like!!! Where are both of you from, and how old are you?? Are you thinking about living in the housing provided by Drexel or are you going to get your own place? If you are going to get your own place- www.craigslist.org is an awesome site to look for housing. You are going to want to live in either around the art museum area or center city, because those are the nicest areas in the city and they are the closest to hannehman (sp?), although they are the priciest areas. The traffic around where drexel's hospital is can be quite annoying and frustrating so I can't see anyone wanting to commute to class every day. The area where the hospital is at is actually pretty nice. I would consider it "center city" which is my favorite part of the city. I am graduating from temple in may and then I am hopefully going to costa rica for the summer to teach english and "relax by the beach " before we start the hellish year. Anytime in may or august I would be happy to show either of you around the city! Let me know...and congratulations to everyone who got in.

p.s. for the last post, I think someone wanted to know the gpa of an accepted individual---

I have a 3.4 in most of sciences and a 2.99 overall but I still have two semesters left.

Also, I am wondering if you guys are looking into any of the options for paying for the program??? Are you going to try to sign a contract with a hospital (there are a few in philly that will pay for the program I think, but don't quote me on that)?? OR are you just going to take out some huge loans??? Does anyone know the good loans to look into? (low interest rates, etc.) I am starting to look into financial options but I am not sure what I am going to do as of yet....

Actually I called financial aid today with a couple of questions and was put on hold for like forever so I decided I call them tommorrow, I had case study paper to write. I'm also looking into some scholarships and hospital contracts but in GA though.

My daily schedule at the moment isn't that bad. We started out with one full clinical day (6 hours) in the lab, learned basic skills (cath., injections, bed making, etc..). I'm at Lady of Lourdes now in place of the lab. I love it. You will have another lab, health assessment, 3 hours (boring!). The rest you are in regular classes. Not that bad. The next quarters you have clinicals 3 days a week, all day. 2 days of classes.

Not in dorm, heard they were small and expensive. I commute from Jersey everyday, take the train in.

Most of the professors are nice. You really don't get to know them that well because they have so many students.

I've never taken nursing classes before either, there pretty basic. (so far)

1st quarter-Nursing in Society, Genetics, Informatics, Health Promotion-easier classes. Study for Health Assessment and Principles in Nursing.

So how many hours a day are you (avg) in class vs clinicals? How much will that be different next quarter?

I've changed my mind about the dorms....looking for off campus housing. The rate is ridculous and I just found out it's not even furnished...what da hell?!

Have anyone else been looking into housing or know of any student housing apartments? Thanks.

Yeah I was also thinking about dorms- but now it seems pointless... i'm having my mom look out in the newspaper for any good apartments. I'm definitely down with meeting up and taking a tour of the city!

I'm just so sick of school right now.. I'm so ready to get to my nursing classes and be doing something that has a purpose. I know it'll be hard- but I think we'll also have fun stressing out together.

I'm still juggling between jefferson and drexel- jeff is still missing one of my recs so I may just give up on that and stick with drexel.

hey guys maybe drexel co-op student here. got in just waiting to decide b/w schools. I already have a bs in another field but heard the ace was crazy hard so deciede to take the longer path.. Anyway I'm from philly born and raised if u want to know anything about the city let me know i'll hook ya up.as for living you may wanna try manyunk area, relatively cheap, train ride to center city and there are plenty of people lookin for roomates in the area.. try craigslist. anyway if you have any ?'s let me know...congrats on drexel...
