Drexel ace fall 2008

I see a lot of people are registered for Fall of 09. I'm starting Spring 09, so I guess I'll be a semester ahead. For the people that are already in the program, what classes are the hardest? Any textbooks I could get now to read through (well) before the program begins to get a head start? I figure Pharmacology will be a challenge. Is that one class, or is it involved in all of them.

Anyone else starting Spring 09?

Also, for the clinical list. I currently live in Bryn Mawr (Delaware county, west of Philadelphia). Where are the majority of the clinicals located. I'm planning on moving, but would like to find a place (outside of the city) that will still get me reasonable access to clinical sites.

I don't know about anyone else but I am getting really anxious to start in September!! Does anyone know if the uniforms we ordered are just for clinicals or do we have to wear them to class too? Is anyone else excited too?

I will be starting the program this September ('08). I am very anxious about the course as well. Especially, because my first language is not English. Although I have lived in U.S. close to 4 years, it is never enough.

I did good with science pre-requisites, but had to study A LOT!!

But I am very excited to be a good nurse!!

I have few questions to everyone.

Do (did) you take the basic CPR class or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer? I believe that the latter one is recommended, but harder than the former one.... I do not want to fail with CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer course if I decide to take that one before I can even start the semester.. haha But to get it done by 19th, the latter one seem like that is my only option.. Does anyone know how hard it is to pass??

Do we really have to pay $400 for the late fee for all the required documents for each clinical days? I am in Japan (my home) right now and some of the things such as getting drug screening test, I have to do it when I go back on Sept 4th.

How are you guys doing with your documents, uniforms, etc that we have to be done by 19th of Sept in general?? Are you all done??

Did you already order uniforms, complete immunization record, or CPR??

I am hoping to find some good study groups to study with and do great in the classes!!

According to the schedule, it says that there will be a winter break between 13th of December to 5th of January, but do we have any assignments to do during this period or do we really have BREAK from school work.

Because my sister and her husband are planning to come during this time from Japan and it would be bad if I cannot tour them because students are supposed to study during winter break.

I just received the text book list for Fall 2008 & I have a question to current & recently past Drexel ACErs...Are all the "required" books necessary or are the tests based on "Powerpoints?" If they're not all necessary, which ones are truly needed?

Current ACE student here! Hoping to be done next week. I just skimmed some questions.

About break, you do have a genuine winter break. It will be your longest break of the program. I wouldn't necessarily say that you need it to recover from the first quarter, but that you need it to prepare for the second quarter!

Uniforms: I would order them ASAP. I know people who did not have their uniforms for the first clinical and shared. The uniform place can be very slow and or incompetent. You do not have to wear you uniforms all the time. You have to wear them for your clinical experiences and whenever you have class in the lab. (first quarter you wear them for Health Assessment, Principles Lab, and Principles Clinical)

Documents:

You DEFINITELY need your documents before you start your clinicals. They will NOT let you attend clinical. You do not want to start off on the wrong foot. Also, make copies of all your documents. Drexel WILL lose them.

Books:

You do not NEED all the required books. It really depends on the professors as to who tests from the Powerpoints and who goes by the book.

I have ALL my books from the year and will gladly sell them to you! There are only a couple that I plan on keeping. So if you are interested in saving a few bucks, let me know! You can PM me. I'll get it.

I just got accepted to Drexel's ACE program for Spring 09 - i have heard some mixed reviews about this program, but i was wondering if anyone thinks this program is really any worse or better than other accelerated programs. I know its hard to tell, but any thoughts would be appreciated. I am very excited to start a program, but I am worried if there are actual concrete reasons that make this program not worth being a part of. Can anyone shed light?

I'd also love to hear from other students entering in spring - is anyone else excited???

Everything Ive heard about Drexel so far is great, beside the distance you may have to travel for clinicals. I actually was accepted for Fall 08 but deferred and was wondering if they still had seats open for Spring 09- when did you submit your application/receive your acceptance?
