Dreading Micro!

Is it really as bad as everyone makes it out to be? I work full time and have managed these grades so far

Anatomy 1 A, Lab A

Anatomy 2 A, Lab B

Chemistry (Currently taking, I have a B in lab and lecture)

I also take two other courses towards my BSN while taking each science course.

Please let me know how you guys studied for Micro and how it was compared to the other sciences.

Micro is a fun course. Its not hard at all. You don't have to be a sciencehead to get into it. The composition and function of bacteria and viruses are very interesting to learn about. The course classifies them according to type, then it goes into what they do and how they can make people sick. Its really a fun class. I loved it.

Who is "everyone"?

If you want to be an RN it does not matter if it is "bad" or not..it is required. If you cannot manage it then you will not earn the degree required to be allowed to sit for the NCLEX. Life is simple. You either successfully navigate the task in front of you or you do not.

Referring to most of the people I've spoken to at my school about the course in general. Just getting an idea of what I'm getting myself into. I'm sure I will do well, as I always exceed even my own expectations. But a little insight doesn't hurt.

I am taking it at the moment and I think it is easy.

To study, I outline the learning objectives and occasionally using flash cards. Lab is fun and the workload is a lot lighter than Anatomy and Physiology.

You have great grades and you will be fine. :)

Micro wasn't my favorite, but ended up with an A.

Some suggestions:

#1 Use Rate My Professor.com (Can't agree more with HoneyClover). Make sure the prof provides a study guide and reviews the class for the midterm/final.

Take a class  with a lab; review your biochem.

You have what it takes!

I was nervous about taking Microbiology, too. It seemed daunting, but it's actually not as bad as I thought! It's actually more interesting and fun. The types of labs we participate in is fun. I feel it is easier to learn than Physiology was. Plus,if you get a very enthusiastic, animated professor like I do, it'll be even better. Don't be nervous and have fun with it!
