Does Texas require US work experience for license?

I graduated from Philippines Oct 2007, I did not take the local board, have a hard time getting ATT from California. I'm thinking of applying for an RN license in Texas since I have a sister in Texas. I noticed in their application packet that they are requiring work experience in entry-level nursing? I have no license anywhere so no way I can work as I nurse. I do have a CNA license and I am workign as a CNA now.

Is Texas really strict about that? I don't wanna waste time and money again only to find out in the end that I cannot get an ATT again. Pls, anybody help me... What states do not require CGNFS, local license and work experience?

Many thanks!:bluecry1:

Moved to the International forum as per Red Banner regarding any questions relating to immigration or BON?BRN to the US be asked in the International forum.

Thank you for your understanding.

No Texas does not require work experience for license.

You can actually start application process with Texas BON before you graduate.

No Local License from PI is required either.

Sorry, but if one is an International grad, they cannot start the licensing process for any state in the US as an application requires minimum of a completed set of transcripts. And as an international grad, one also needs to submit the CES, which also requires the completed set of transcripts.

Even if the person graduates from another state in the US, they also need a completed set of transcripts.

So not sure how you are tellling people that they can start the process without having that done. Just is not possible. And if you are going by what a secretary tells you on the phone, they are not the ones that make the decisions and do not approve anything.

Sorry to not clarify myself.

I considered filling out an application with CGNFS and paying your fees and being assigned a ID Number for the CES as part of the whole process.

Which I meant you could start before you graduate.

You really need to be clear when posting formation that you are including all relevant information. For most there is enough to do to make sure you complete your nurse education and for most countries a local license is required so consentrate on getting that. I expect the US to insist more and more on local licenses and we are seeing BON/BRN making these demands already with a few more BON/BRN asking for them. Aso if you are using the RN as a means for immigration and you are waiting for up to 5 years before otaining a valid work visa and no local license then how are you going to gain expereience and maintain any skills. If you was an employer and had 2 people in front of you of which both have been waiting 2 or more years and only 1 had gained any experience who would you pick...... in the magority of cases it will be the one with experience.

Submitting to CGFNS before one graduates is not a good idea either as they will not do one single thing with the application if the transcripts are not included, so it does not make things any quicker at all, and really should not be encouraged to be done.

CES is not the licensing process for a state either. And if a state requires the CES, then they will not even look at the application without it either.

Be aware that if one submits something to CGFNS and it has a wrong date by one day, things will get sent back. So in fact, it can cause more issues for the person in the first place..

Always wait until there is a completed set of transcripts.
