C/O upset stomach, nausea without vomiting. Ate lunch, played at recess. No need for bathroom. Gave sips of water and allowed rest for 15 minutes. improvement of symptoms, no vomiting. Returned to class... and threw up. ?♀️?

My charting theme the past few days has been "Student reports arm/leg/toe/elbow/earlobe hurts with no precipitating injury, no wound, no swelling, no bruising..."

Shockingly, I've had this happen before and after some research, I called Mom to refer for further evaluation. Pituitary disorders/tumors can cause this, and it turns out that's exactly what this particular student was dealing with. Benign, thankfully, but still something to monitor.

Student states that a piece of their "jaw came out". On inspection, a tooth was seen pushing through the gums on their top right side and the 3 mm piece of flesh on their finger appeared to be a piece of their gums. No pain, no signs of infection, hands washed, and piece saved in a ziplock at student's request.

It happens sometimes! LOL! Kids are tough and they can even run a fever and still want to play!! I tell my teachers if you'll forgive me for sending a student that's truly sick back to class I'll forgive you for sending me kids that are faking. We can only go by what we see and they say and you can't help it they said they felt better!

Love this! We are all doing the best we can. Assume good intentions. Kiddos are tricky.
