Hi, I am a very worried, stressed pre-nursing student right now. I have a 3.7 GPA, a 68 on my TEAS V (which the school I am applying for doesn't have any requirement for how high your TEAS score has to be), a good academic standing, and I work my butt off in school and currently have straight A's... The school I am applying to requires a minimum 2.5 GPA and no less than a C in all science classes (which I have an A in all of the science classes). I am just freaking out so bad because there's not a nursing school within a 60 mile radius of where I live besides the one I am applying to... So I kind of need to get accepted in order to fulfill my dream, do you think my chances are good? Is there anything else I can do to make my chances better? I would feel a lot better speaking to someone with a similar academic standing...

Could you retake your Teas?

Same here. 3.74 GPA, A's in all my sciences so far. Last time I posted on here about something like this people pretty much said I was ridiculous for worrying/posting because my GPA wasn't low. But still. I would advise you to re-take your TEAS.
I'm only applying to one school as well. It's the only one in my area. The next nearest school is a little over an hour away and requires the TEAS instead of the HESI. I'm not willing to drive that far daily or move, nor am I going to take the TEAS (not prepared), so I pretty much have no choice but to get accepted into my current school.
I made a 95 on my HESI and even reconsidered taking that. I have a C on my transcript from College Algebra which is kind of why I'm iffy on if I'll get accepted or not (my school looks at science and math). I'll pretty much do anything to increase my chances of being accepted.
What semester are you applying for?
I could, in order for my application to be complete I had to take it now, but the admissions office at the school said if I needed to I could just take it again after AP1 is over so it will be easier. They didn't seem very worried about what my score was and I have been told that the average score there is 50-54.

I think you have nothing to worry about. My school also doesn't care if your TEAS score is low or high...you just have to meet the benchmark. You have a great GPA and shouldn't be so worried. GoodLuck to you..Everything will work out for the best!!!!

Agree with the above poster, your TEAS score might be a bit low but your overall and science GPA's are great which could very well balance that out if you choose not to re-test. Does the program you're applying to admit based on a point system? If they do, is there anything you can do to get a few extra points on your application? Healthcare volunteer experience and having taken Spanish or ASL classes are pretty common point-earners.
I am basically in the same exact situation, I am not willing to drive that far or move either. I may retake it after AP1, like advised by the school... And I have a C from sociology, my professor sucked. I am applying for Fall 2014.
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement!
They do not, thank goodness because I feel like a point system would be even more nerve racking. @scientistsalarian (this is my first time on here and I just realized that just because I hit reply doesn't mean I am directly replying to anyone...)

Your GPA and science GPA sound great. You might want to retake your TEAS though. Even if the school says they don't care it will still be compared to others applying to the program. I think you have nothing to worry about besides aiming for a better TEAS score. Good luck :)
