Do pre-reqs need to be completed before applying to an accelerated BSN program?

Published

Hello, I completed a Biology degree a year ago. I was originally on the path for my MD but ultimately I think nursing may be my calling. I did not actually complete A&PII. I'd like to apply for June 2013 admission to an accelerated BSN program but was wondering: do I need to have A&PII completed BEFORE applying or BEFORE attending? Thank you VERY much!

It depends on the program, and each has its own policy. Some programs require that you complete all pre-reqs before applying, and some allow you to apply if have majority of the pre-reqs done. So check with the school would be the best approach.

Call or email your school, they'll give a better idea of what you will need to do in this situation.

Thank you for the responses, I will call my school in the morning :)

My program requires that you will complete all prereqs during the current semester in order to apply. Let us know what they say.

In my ABSN program, you could apply before any pre-reqs were done. I was accepted and placed in a specific future cohort with 6 classes left to take. The condition is that you have to have a C or better not to lose your spot. I cannot attend until the pre-reqs are finished, though.

Unfortunately it turns out that UMDNJ wants all pre-reqs done BEFORE applying. You can apply while still in school but they most likely will not process your application until you have completed your last session of classes meaning that you in actuality cannot apply until all pre-reqs have been completed.
