Do your own homework please...

Gosh I am having a little vent here.

I cannot believe how many times people post assignments on this site expecting answers, sometimes even getting them, when they have shown no attempt at the assignment themselves. What gives?

The ones that really get me are the ones whose subjects say things like, "urgent" and then go on to say, "This is due tomorrow. Please help."

Not only are they looking for someone to do their homework, it's now urgent because they procrastinated.

I'm always amazed at how readily folks just offer up answers rather than helping lead students through the process to arrive at the answers themselves.

The Socratic method rules!

Exactly.

BTW Anyone who thinks I believe people shouldn't ask for help made it up in their own head. One doesn't have to be a rocket scientist to work out when people are behaving like "chancers". Asking some questions or seeking clarification is one thing. Posting your whole care plan or case study...completely ridiculous. They are taking the ****.

OMG I just saw that pi$$ is a bad word here. LMAO

If you're so annoyed then don't help. I'm sure there are plenty of other willing people that appreciate helping others. Clearly, you are not one of them.

...the students that won't make it past their first semester.

Any of us is willing to help anyone on here that help themselves, but not those that are too lazy to attempt research.

I agree with Hygiene Queen. Coming on here counts as research, it's like a living search engine. Sometimes hearing others' ideas can help you refine what you are trying to say/do, pick a topic, etc. I do of course think that they should have put in some effort before asking, but there are also time limits to assignments and sometimes it takes a while to get an answer on here. They could be doing the research while waiting for an answer here. In my presentation group, we used to come up with an idea and then go to the instructor that had the most experience with that topic and ask them to refine it.
