when you are with a group of people who are not in health care and they constantly complain about what is wrong with health care. I know they can't see what the real problems are because they are on the outside looking in, so to speak. I just get tired of listening to people complain to me or in front of me without any consideration to how it makes me feel. Maybe I am just tired of dealing with the issues at work and then I have to listen to it or deal with it on my time off. All this and I am somewhat of a newbie....lol. I will be jaded in no time if I do not shake this frustration.
I realize that health care affects them, most are afraid of what their future holds, and they have a right to discuss this highly political topic. I just wish they wouldn't save the topic for me:angryfire Sadly, most of them are family so I just grin and bare it.
Maybe I should create diversions....like so many of our drains on health care....you know the ones I am speaking of...those frequent fliers that cry wolf. LOL After all, I have seen some of the greats in action. Learning from the finest teachers that walk through our doors.
Seriously, this is just a post to blow off steam so please don't flame me. I just needed someone to hear me who knows what I am talking about, aka, health care employees. By the way, yes this is the day that I usually visit my family thus the need to blow off steam.:lol_hitti

Uh, yeah... I know exactly what you are talking about. I can't even mention the word healthcare in front of my mom without her launching into a tirade about how Obama is going to make people choose "death dates", that the public option = socialized medicine, etc.
All of this from someone who has worked for the government since she was 18, and never forced to decide between putting gas in her car, or having health insurance. It was always just there, and paid for by the taxpayer!
Don't get me wrong, I love my mom, I just don't discuss certain things with her. (I also delete all emails from her with the word "Obama" in the title without opening them)

Just tell your mom we will be bankrupt and learning Chinese long before she has to worry about "death dates."

I usually go to my happy place in my head when clueless people start talking about "the problems with healthcare". Most of them will not have an intelligent conversation with me about it anyway, so why waste the energy getting mad. I seem to be spending more and more time in that happy place in my head.
Your mother must be the sister of my father. LOL Does she get herself worked into a state of upset that you finally have 911 programmed into speed dial? If so I think we are related. rofl

What I AM getting sick of is people who don't belong in nursing, thinking it is easy money, and not really giving a **** about people, but about how fast they can get their master's and specialize so they can earn money.
And yes, because they have an advanced degree already, have an air of entitlement as if that unrelated degree is going to make them a good nurse.
I, for one, am sick of these types and they need to have some readjustments to their uncaring attitudes.
Hrmph.
JoPACURN, I hear you and seriously, if one more family member shows me yet another article detailing the nursing shortage or comments on how lucky I am to have such an easy, high paying job I think I will scream. LOL I keep thinking to myself that those who enter for ease and money will be shocked. The pay is okay, but the impact it makes on ones mental and physical well being should be factored in. Regardless of the reason for choosing nursing, I believe those who are not serious about this profession will leave as a result of the working conditions.
I must find this happy place that JB2007 speaks of :dzed:
