Do you have a charge nurses who are afraid of that one RN

The RN who ALWAYS loudly protest any and all assignments that don't make them happy. So when a new patient is assigned the scared CN will avoid giving that patient to the Special RN and will give it to other RNs, even if that RN has more patients.

The RN where they always ask of you, but you don't dare ask of them.

What is the CN doing wrong/right? Or is it something that goes with the job, it is only 12hrs.

Oh I forgot, they will also hover over you as you write out the assignment everyday.

I have had managers afraid of that “one RN” ????

LOL, I have been afraid of that one RN as a newbie charge nurse. Now I certainly don't enjoy dealing with them, but I'm learning to stand my ground with any assignment I make. I tell myself, I made it this way for a reason, and if they don't like it, they will have to work it out with their coworkers after I leave. (It helps when that one nurse is on the opposite shift.)

OP:  It is hard to work with a weak Charge/Nurse leader.  My heart go out to you, I had a few of those too.  Now, as a frontline nurse leader, I stare at that one RN, let that one RN vent and complain, then I restate that that one RN is getting the patient.  Hopefully, your Charge will grow a spine and do their job too.  Good luck!

Our CMO (chief medical officer) is afraid of two of the MDs. It is so bizarre. He will send emails that say “New policy is that all providers must do XYZ.”  Then Dr Meanie walks down the hall and gives him a scowl, and he scurries off and pretends he never sent the email.
