Do i have a chance at nursing

Published

Hello guys.... I really wanted to get opinions from others in similar situations or inside knowledge of criteria of many nursing programs. I graduated in 2011 with a B.S in business management from Brooklyn College with a mere gap of 2.4 I didn't excel in school because i thought i would be some entrepreneur business guru. i just wanted a degree to claim. And although i have meet many financial goals I'm still not pleased. I'm currently taking my pre reqs at a community college. Its so competitive I'm really worried about having a chance to get into a program. Im interested in accelerated programs stony brook, nyu, lehman, suny downstate, new rochelle, and I'm willing to go the regular b.s route as well with any school that will take me.

Previous gpa from degree 2.4

Science pre reqs 3.86

Experience Ive been working with doctors since 14 (dentist, chiropractor, dermatologist, ob/gyn ,primary care facility which house physchologist, cardiologist, soon tech, labs, podiatrist, as well as pain management doctors) I have a large range of knowledge from each field by dictating for physicians, assisting, and much more

Think i have a chance?

Of course, you have a chance! If you want this, keep your foot on the gas pedal and try your hardest to pull out A's. I was a returning student in 2012 with a non-science GPA in the mid 2's. When it was all said and done, I finished my last semester with a 4.0 in my science courses and a 3.91 overall. I assessed what I did wrong when I was a student long ago and made the necessary changes. I wanted (and still do) to be a nurse so badly, and I wasn't going to allow anything to stand in

If you want this, you can do it too! Good luck!

Look for a program that only considers prereq GPA

Thank you for the advice, i will get pushing it to the metal. Your absolutely correct, i had to find out where i was going wrong. It was the desire for the wrong things and concentrating on the destination versus the journey.

Good luck on you endeavors as well!!!

My first go at college I had a 2.6 overall. I took 4 years off, matured a tone, took a hard look at why I had done so badly, and when I decided to go back I made the changes I needed to do well. My old gpa didn't follow me to my new college and I currently hav a 4.0. One thing I found was when I changed majors from history to nursing my study habits changed. Yeah, the prerequ for nursing were much harder than history, but I actually enjoyed the material and wanted to put in the effort.
