Well it seems that I have become obsessed with the study of the medical field. I am a student at Spring Hill College of Mobile Alabama and cant stay out of the books. I like to learn... I am extremely involved on campus and volunteer at different locations in the community and maintain a good GPA. I also work as a CNA at one of the local hospitals. Getting to the beef of this post....I am curious as to what the chances are, for a student fresh out of college, to get accepted to a DNP program full time. I know some students who chose to go right into the DNP program part time, but I want to go full time and dedicate as much as possible. I have found a great passion in caring for people and want to continue giving as much knowledge as possible to serve them the best I can. I want to be an NP and I also want to go right through schooling. Please give some input or PM with anything you have to offer. Thank you and God bless

Your acceptance depends on the school. UAB prefers at least one year(might be two, not sure) before starting the MSN program. I don't know when they will have a direct entry DNP program. Currently the DNP is for people with MSN. UA, UAH, and UAB work together for the DNP (same program basically). I say go for it. If nothing else start applying while you get your experience. You need to look into the program you want to attend. Every one has different requirements. I started the UAH NP a few months after graduation several years ago. Dropped out of it when I got into anesthesia. Don't know much about NP practice now. I am really enjoying my DNP program. If you do graduate school full time, work part time. You can enjoy it more that way. If you have to rush through school projects because of time constraints you won't get as much from it.
