Hi,
I was wondering if a digital voice recorder would help with learning the material in science classes. What are your thoughts? Thanks.

I just took Pharmacology this past summer. It was a very hard class!! Anyway, I did record my lectures. I just found that I am an audio learner along with visual. You probably wont know until you use it and apply it. I can say that it def. helped make my A!
Good luck

I am taking microbiology and I am taking dvr with me. It doesn't hurt to try it.

I just started using one and I love it. I am also an auditory learner, so if you don't know your style you might want to take an online test first. I know it has worked for me so far this semester.

I couldn't live without mine. I would seriously drop a class if for some crazy reason my instructor won't let me have one in class. I can't take notes fast enough in class but with a dvr, I can get home and write down anything I've missed or make sure I have the right information. I even listen to my lectures again and again if I'm doing something mindless like cleaning. It really helped me!
Can you give the the brands you think are best and where to purchase one? Thanks for all the replies, I appreciate it.

I bought mine at the student bookstore. It's a small silver-colored Olympia that I bought for like $53 or something. It's a bit spendy but sooooo worth it, IMO.

sansa e200. it is an mp3 player with a voice recorder. it has come in handy for several reasons, not just recording class!

I have the Sansa, too! Love it. I bought mine refurbished off Woot for $30. I recorded almost every Patho lecture. It is really nice to play them back while you are doing stuff around the house. I am planning to replace my car radio when I start nursing school so I can play my MP3 lectures while driving to clinicals.

Today was my first day of A&P I. My professor recommended the recorder since everything on the test will be taken from what comes out of his mouth. I bought an Olympus and the playback quality was excellent recording from second row. But when I got home my MAC wouldnt recognize WMA files without separate software. I wanted to put the recordings straight into I Tunes for my ipod so I was told Sony is compatible with Mac and itunes, because it records in MP3 format instead of WMA. Wish somebody had told me that in the first place! Circuit City has a good variety of both brands in EVERY price range.
If you have not bought one yet you might want to make sure that you can download to your pc. I can download then burn the lecture to a cd. I have a RCA one from Walmart. It will say on the package if youc an download and what's included. Just a thought!
