Did I do the right thing?

last august we caught the facility lpn stealing narcs, my co-workers & I reported her to the admin, the lpn was moved to another facility we were reduced from 40hrs. to parttime, the workload has been increased,and we are verbally abused daily by residents with statements such as "anyday now you'll be gone, etc.", a new employee has been hired and was told she did not have to do anything except administration of meds and she would not work any weekends, the admin states daily that we should all look for work elsewhere because she would make it hard for us to ever get jobs again in any nursing homes anywhere in this state. the admin has asked several workers from various departments such as dietary and activities to write deragatory statements about us in case the company goes to court.

My question to anyone would be is there anyone who knows if we can continue being harrassed in this manner and will it effect my chances of getting into a nursing program?HELPPPPPPPPPPPPPP:rotfl:

:uhoh3: Wow! This is a strange situation. Yes you did the right thing by reporting the LPN who was stealing narcotics. I hope this won't cause you any problems when you want to enter a nursing program. I know job harassment is against the law. I would call the labor board and see what they suggest.Good luck

Just curious....they did report her to the State Board and not let her provide patient care correct???? She should be undergoing treatment if it was handled right. If she is still working and was not reported then someone from higher up isnt following protocol. Did you have proof?? Sounds like you need to find legal help and nail these folks.....otherwise, might there be another side of this story?

This sounds like retribution for whistle-blowing. I think there are specific laws that guard nurses against such a thing. Was this situation handled through work only, or did it go to the board of nursing??? I would contact the BON and maybe legal counsel. You could have stumbled upon something bigger than you realize.

No, the nurse has never been reported, she was allowed to simply walk away, I have at least 10 witnesses, 5 eyewitnesses, a briefcase filled with my notes and a signed letter that was given to all the techs from the admin when she was made at the owner. The signed letter is a statement from the resident to the admin in regards to money he gave the nurse to help with her bills (upon employment with this company we alll signed an agreement not to take anything from the residents over $2.00) he gave this nurse at least $500.00 in cash and more than 25 Oxycodone tablets, darvocet and vicodin.:uhoh3: :uhoh3: I plan on leaving this company on Friday March 26, 2004, I have landed a really great job at a hospital as an aide to the P.T. department, do you think I still should file a complaint with the state just so they won't hamper my future?

Gosh - I would by flying out that door too! You did the right thing and it sounds like this company is just trying to cover up something. I wish you well. Personally, I don't think they will do anything to you because you hold the trump card - your documentation. Whether you want to report it higher up is another thing and a decision only you can make. At least in illinois - you can report actions directly to the nursing board without going through the facility.

what about contacting the DIvision of aging.... they monitor the NH..
