Depressed and sick

Hey everyone :)

Well, I have been posting about my excitement of being newly graduated and having a job even before I graduated. Welllllll, I had done my interview, orientation, I am even on the payroll, but now it seems they are crawfishing.

At first I had told them I wanted to be PRN and they seemed OK with it but during orientation, they had voiced some concerns about it. I left assuring them that yes, I want to be full time b/c the benifits are GREAT. They were excited! I was excited!

Then they never called me again. The others that I had orientation with started yesterday. I called yesterday and they acted like they knew nothing about me working there (the DON).

Now I am home, sick with a chest cold and depressed. I am going to have to ******* start over again and go to the places that I had already turned down b/c this position was offered to me and it was my 1st choice.

Sorry, had to get it off my chest here b/c my dh is on his way home from a business trip and the dog can only offer so much advice.

I said fri***in not the other word!!! I thought it was allowed ;)

Don't worry. I had a horrid cold for over a week not long ago which moved to my chest, you are allowed to feel sorry for yourself you know!!

This happened to me not long ago (I just posted the story on another posting can't remember which one).

Some NMs are just psychotic (I could tell you a few scary stories believe me!), or they are busy, or forget, or just don't care - who knows the real reason they end up ignoring you?

The point is I don't dwell on these people now. Either tell them what you think of them, or forget it and move on. Call those other people that offered you positions back ASAP and tell them your other job offer was rescinded. Don't go into details at all. Just change the subject and tell them you are still interested. Be enthusiastic and encouraging.

I know it sucks. It's happened to me - they give you the cold shoulder. I thought, well I can either sit and dwell on the reason why (which you probably won't ever know so don't bother), or get on with the job of looking for a job. You WILL get one if you believe you will. If you got offered one job, you will be offered another one.

Hey at least you had the dog there, I live on my own and it's awful coming home to an empty house, but at least we have allnurses to help us out!

You mean you were working and on payroll for what, 12 weeks, and now you are just nowhere? No schedule? Just a gal without a horse?

Hope you are feeling a bit better now.

If you are truly 'PRN', you may not be on the schedule, because you will be called in to work whenever someone calls in sick or they need an extra nurse. You will not usually have a schedule in advance. PRN does mean flexibility, but that cuts both ways & does not guarantee a minimum number of hours each pay period.

FYI, my organization does not hire inexperienced nurses (

I just got a call and I start full time tomorrow morning! I just had to get something straightened out (simple misunderstanding) and now the pieces are all falling into place!

Great stuff! You believed in yourself, persevered in your job hunting, and everything will turn out OK now I reckon.

Is it at the same place or a different place?

Hubby will have to take you out to dinner now ha ha!

Well done - I'm happy for you

(and give the dog a hug for keeping you company when you felt down!)
