Defense date set

August 21 at 11am CDT. It hardly seems real since I've been continuously enrolled in coursework or dissertation work since Fall 2014 and that was after only about half a year break after finishing my BSN.

My chair is very optimistic that there should be no problems having my dissertation accepted by the other committee members so hopefully in a few weeks I'll be completing this degree after so much time.

Next big task, radically changing career paths after 26 years as a bedside nurse. I have a few leads but nothing solid at this point.

Thank you!! It is a huge relief. Of course, the paperwork is still processing and I'm not sure they will actually confer the degree for a few more weeks though I do have a letter from the Dean stating I had completed my PhD.

Also, I guess because there are so few people within the graduate school they only have a commencement at the end of the Spring semester, but I do definitely plan to drive the 5 hours down there next May and walk!

Yay, that's awesome! I'm sure it will be even more of a relief when the paperwork is finished. Good for you that you're going to drive down for spring commencement! You earned it!
