DECISIONS???

I need your help! I was recently hired to work a staff position at a hospital that I have always wanted to work at. I was also given the opportunity to work as a travel nurse at a different hospital that is under the same chain. I wanted to know if I decide to take the travel position, will that hinder my chances of being hired at my dream hospital (the staff position) in the future if I so desired?

Yes, if you leave a staff position that you just took to come back to the same company as a high-cost traveler, I think you're shooting yourself in the foot.

Are you already working in the staff position or do you just have offer? If you're already working there and you leave for a travel position without completing at least six months (or maybe a year), I don't think it would work well for you to get back to the hospital you want. There's more to life than money, if you already have a position at the hospital you wanted to work at, it's in your best interest to stay there and build your career.

Thank you for your response. I accepted the position as a staff nurse but I don't actually start working until about 2 weeks from now. Do you think I would lose my chances of ever being hired on staff there in the future?

You have been hired on as staff.  Travel positions are iffy. Where do you want to end up? No one  knows how HR will view  the situation.
